I completed a twelve months internship at Codeweavers as part of my Computing Science degree. On successful completion I was offered a permanent job, while studying I worked part-time where possible. As of the end of June 2020 this is my current full-time employment.
I worked at the Students' Union after my 1st year at university to supplement my finances. The job was flexible and fit around my studies well. Throughout my time within this employment I designed and worked on the union website and also created the Greenpad website from scratch (see my portfolio).
I worked in a group of three, our idea was a digital campus map app that runs on Android operating system. The app that we created lists all the university buildings and facilities in an ordered list from closest to furthest. We have successfully implemented an Augmented Reality view of your surrounds my holding your device camera up to a building and the building is recongised showing you the name and facilities available. In addition to these views we have also included a map with custom markers showing the building and type also the users current location. If the user presses on the markers the building name is output along with a description. If the user taps on directions, they are navigated from their current location to their desired destination.

The role is very diverse, which can include showing prospective students around Staffordshire University, working at large public facing events, answering queries in person, over phone or on email, supporting administrative departments with tasks like data entry, front desk cover or mailings.
As part of Staffordshire University being one of the first Microsoft beacon universities, digital champions have been recruited.
